One woman's special day has become engulfed in family drama after a train wreck of an engagement party.

Weddings are stressful enough without having to deal with petty family friction. There are a million things the bride already has to fret about - from the catering turning up on time, the sunny weather holding out, and whether the groom will get cold feet.

But one bride-to-be will say 'I do' without her sister present: a decision she says she feels 'torn' about but is necessary to have a 'drama-free' wedding day. It comes after the sibling was spotted complaining 'loudly' about the venue, food, and child-free policy of the upcoming nuptials.

Taking to Reddit, the anonymous user described her sibling as having a 'history of being the centre of attention' and accused her of 'upsetting several guests and overshadowing' the engagement party. "We tried to calm her down and asked her privately to respect our wishes but she accused us of excluding her and being selfish," the post reads.

"We want our wedding day to be peaceful and focused on celebrating our love without any drama. However, when she found out she wasn't invited, she was devastated and reached out to family members to say how hurt she was, making me out to be the bad guy."

Now, the bride's parents are pressuring her to 'reconsider' - arguing it could cause 'irreparable damage' to the relationship if she's left out. The woman says she understands the importance of family, but that her wedding should 'be about us and not managing potential disruptions'.

Hundreds of users took to the comments section to share their thoughts, with the majority clearly in agreement. "It's your day and you can invite who you choose," one person wrote. Another said inviting the sister could cause 'irreparable damage' to their relationship. "If she causes a scene again, you aren't ever going to forget that she ruined your wedding," they added.

One user shared a similar experience where her sister 'caused a huge scene' at her wedding reception almost 30 years ago. "It irreparably damaged our relationship and I haven’t spoken to her in many years," she explained. "You should do what she needs to do to have the wedding that she wants."
