Jordan North has already bagged himself a new radio job.

The former BBC Radio 1 presenter quit his role at the Beebs on Friday with many left wondering what he would be up to next. Now, it's been reported that he's joined a rival station and will be replacing one of the top radio stars.

Reports claim that Jordan, 34, will be taking over from Roman Kemp on Capital FM's Breakfast Show, with Chris Stark and Sian Welby. The York-born broadcaster joined Radio 1 in 2014 as a freelance presenter and often covered for the likes of Scott Mills, Nick Grimshaw and Matt Edmondson.

In 2021, he joined forces with Vick Hope for the Radio 1 Drivetime Show – where he'll be replaced by reality star Jamie Laing.

"Jordan is moving to Capital FM to replace Roman and he could not be more excited," a source told The Sun, adding: "It is absolutely huge for him and although it's hard to leave the BBC he is excited to get started on Capital. Jordan's decision has been a hard pill to swallow for the BBC but there was nothing they could do to change his mind."

It was reported in October that after seven years of fronting the Breakfast Show, Roman, 30, would be leaving. A source told The Sun: "Roman has loved his time at Capital FM and it has been a huge learning curve for him over the years. But he feels now is the right time to pass the baton to someone else." They added that the former I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! had "several big TV opportunities."

Following his exit, the Head of Radio 1, Aled Haydn Jones said Jordan was an "amazing presenter and a valued colleague at Radio 1, and I'm so proud of his journey with us".

He added: "He has always connected with the Radio 1 audience through his shows and projects, as witnessed by the huge amount of money raised for Comic Relief during his rowing trip from London to Burnley."

The Mirror has approached Capital's parent company, Global, for comment.
