Disney+ X-Men '97 animated series trailer sees Wolverine and co back in action
Disney+ has unveiled the first trailer and confirmed the release date of its hotly anticipated X-Men series. Launching next month, X-Men ‘97 sees Marvel’s iconic team of mutants including Wolverine, Cyclops, Beast and Gambit back in action in a brand-new sequel cartoon.
The 10-episode series serves as a continuation of Fox’s hugely popular X-Men: The Animated Series, which ran for five seasons between 1992 and 1997. X-Men ’97 revisits the iconic era of the 1990s as The X-Men – a band of mutants who use their uncanny gifts to protect a world that hates and fears them – are challenged like never before, forced to face a dangerous and unexpected new future.
The first-look trailer for X-Men ‘97 shows the team dealing with life without Professor X, who died in the finale of the ‘90s series. The nostalgia-heavy footage shows the X-Men are now led by Cyclops amid anti-mutant protests and Sentinel attacks.

The packed trailer sees Scott and his team thrown a curveball, as the late Professor has apparently left everything in his will to the villain Magneto. It also offers a throwback to the classic series with the inclusion of its original theme tune.
