A man so fed up with his "top-tier cringey" name has decided to change it to improve his chances of getting a girlfriend. He says his name has stopped him from securing a long-term girlfriend - and even impacts him at work as people think he made it up to appear 'cooler'.

The man, named Chad Meister, compared his name to Max Powers, the name Homer Simpson selected when changing his name in the thirteenth episode of the tenth season of the American animated television series The Simpsons.

The 31-year-old said on Reddit: "I don't even like the man I got the last name from who I've seen a few times in my life. The total name itself is top-tier cringe besides that. I have no idea why my mom thought it would help me in life, it has done the complete opposite and I hate telling people what it is. It impacts jobs and relationships and my confidence greatly."

To put an end to his troubles, he's decided to change his name once and for all - but he's not sure what to change it to. He said: "I can't think of a name I would like better. I am thinking of pulling a 'Stan Lee' where I take my first name (actually Chadwick not just Chad) and split it into my first and last name while dropping my middle and last name going from 'Chadwick N/A Meister' to Chad Wick. Reference to John Wick kinda cool cause I would go on a murder spree for my cat."

"I still don't really like Chad but it's too established already so I guess I'll keep that." One person replied to his post, saying: "Chad Wick is horrendous. Sorry, someone needed to tell you." Someone else made a joke: "It's the Chadmeister!"

Another person commented: "Chad Meister is actually so ridiculous it circles back into being unironically cool. It's also a great icebreaker for new people you meet. But if you really can't stand it or the attention it brings maybe just go by your middle name?" And another suggested: "If you have a good relationship with your mother you could use her last name. If she got married and changed it then consider her pre-marriage name."
