Love Island's Sophie Piper met sister Rochelle Humes for first time at 18
Love Island star Sophie Piper only met her lookalike famous sister Rochelle Humes for the first time when she was 18.
There is a 10-year age gap between Sophie, 24, and big sister Rochelle, 34, as they share the same dad but not the same mum. Rochelle was three years old when her dad, Mark Piper, left her and mum Roz Wiseman. He later went on to have three children with his new partner – daughters Sophie and Lili and son Jake.
These days the siblings are all in touch and speak every day, but it wasn’t always that way. In fact it was down to another Love Island star – Kem Cetinay - that they are in contact at all. This is because Kem happened to go to school with Lili and the pair are pals. Once he got famous and was in the same circles as Rochelle, he decided to approach her at a party.
Opening up about the moment Kem came over on Giovanna Fletcher’s Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast, Rochelle previously revealed: “I’ve never told anyone this before. Two years ago I was at our management’s Christmas party and Love Island’s Kem was there. He was chatting away and said, ‘I got to talk to you.’
“He said, ‘As soon as I became a celeb, I promised my friend Lili that I would talk to you as she’s your sister on your dad’s side.’” Rochelle, who rose to fame in girl band The Saturdays before launched a TV presenting career, continued: “I knew of her [Lili] and met up with her when I was five, but it was so complicated as they were a lot younger and my dad wasn’t involved.”

Sisters Rochelle, Lili and Sophie all look so alike (Instagram)As a result of Kem’s intervention, Rochelle got Lili’s number and shortly afterwards the siblings agreed so meet, with Sophie and Jake there too. Describing the moment they were reunited, Rochelle shared: "The three of them were together and had grown up with each other - they know each other. I felt really vulnerable about the whole thing. It got to Thursday night, and I promise you, I was so nervous. So I made him [husband Marvin] come with me.”
Thankfully, nervous Rochelle had nothing to be worried about, as the newly reunited siblings are now super close since that first-ever meeting. She said: "From that day, we talk every single day. I can't remember a time when they weren’t in my life now. We are literally the same people, Marvin was like, 'OMG, there's more of you'. We've spoken every day since - Jeremy Kyle style. It's like we've known each other all our lives."

Before Sophie went into the villa, mum-of-three Rochelle took to social media to post a snap with her little sis and fans struggled to tell them apart. She captioned the post: “My little sister is heading to the Love Island villa tonight... gulp! Go smash it my girl. Have fun and please meet someone nice @sophpiper_”
Sophie also opened up about the family reunion and fellow Love Island star Kem’s connection to it. She told MailOnline: “There was a period where we weren’t in contact. It was weird growing up not knowing Rochelle but since we have spoken, we speak every day, so it’s nice all of us being in each other’s lives now. My middle sister Lili went to school with Kem, so that’s how we know him. Obviously he was at the same school as me. It’s funny how it’s all linked together.”
