Police have evacuated homes after 'suspicious items' were found inside a house in Glasgow.

Drivers and pedestrians are asked to avoid the area this afternoon, Thursday (February 15), with officers having cordon off the scene on Broomhill Drive, between Dumbarton Road and Broomhill Avenue.

The incident is the result of a pre-planned search carried out today, according to a Police Scotland statement.

Released around 1pm, it reads: “As a precaution, Broomhill Drive between Dumbarton Road and Broomhill Avenue in Glasgow is closed after suspicious items were found within a property following a pre-planned search.

“Several homes have been evacuated and a cordon put in place. Please avoid the area at this time.”
