Love Island star Amy Day is loving the show's shocking new twist that allows viewers to vote for which bombshell they want entering the villa.

The ITV2 series usually leaves the contestants fanning themselves when they bring in the very first bombshell after the stars have already picked their partners.

But now, they thought of a surprising new way to ruffle up some feathers and bring in the drama during the very first few episodes.

Viewers get to pick between 25-year-old Ellie Spence, a Business Development Executive at a law firm from Norwich, or Tom Clare, a 23-year-old semi-pro footballer from Barnsley.

After hearing the news, series seven star Amy - who was coupled up with Hugo Hammond - revealed she thought it is a 'great idea'.

She explained how the new voting system makes sense as the 'public are the ones watching'.

Speaking to the Mirror, the 27-year-old explained: "I'm excited for Tanya and Anna Mae and Tanyel [to come in]. But also the fact that we can now pick, it is like the first-ever time that we can pick the first bombshell. I think that's such a good idea.

"I think it's a really, really good idea. And I hope Ellie gets picked. Ellie seems like she's here to like, rustle up some feathers. So it should be great TV."

When asked whether she appreciates the new changes added to the show, she said: "I do. I really do. I think it's like weird that it's only just now come in but thank God it's coming. I think it's a great idea.

"It's the public that is watching so I guess it kind of should be up to them who goes in?"

The bombshell twist isn't the only change made for this year's series - which is being filmed in South Africa.

Love Island will no longer allow contestants to use their social media platforms during the series in a major new shake-up of the rules.

The ITV2 show recently announced that the new stars must agree to pause their handles for the duration of their time on the show.

Islanders’ accounts will remain dormant while they are in the villa and nothing can be published on their behalf.

Many of the past contestants agreed with the new protocol, including Amy, and Faye Winter - who said it was 'necessary'.

Unfortunately, many of the cast members have to deal with relentless trolling and hate on their social media when they're on the show.

With the new protocol, contestants and their families will hopefully feel safer.

The stunning Amy backed the idea, saying: "I think it's a great idea. I think it's really good."
