Chris first became involved with the BBC when he was called up by a researcher. It ended up leading to him becoming a co-presenter for Eat Well For Less with Gregg Wallace. The presenter made an appearance on The Truth About, where he set out to understand whether certain claims about meat, linking it to cancer and heart disease, are justified. Chris also became a judge on Britain's Best Home Cook alongside Mary Berry and Dan Doherty in 2018 and 2020.

In 2011, Chris married Millie Bavin, who used to work as a buyer in fashion retail and also as a costume designer for film and TV. The couple went on to open The Naked Grocer together and share three children. Chris keeps his family life out of the spotlight and only shares rare updates on his social media.

The family recently enjoyed celebrating Pancake Day, as Chris proudly showed off his children's creations. He wrote: "The kids always have so much fun making pancakes, it’s one of their favourite days of the year! Everyone in our house has something different: Chocolate gluten free, French style, American Style!… I couldn’t get them out the kitchen until the washing up needed doing! Happy Shrove Tuesday!"

Over Christmas, Chris also gave an insight into how the family were getting ready for the big day. He posted a snap of his three boys on the sofa watching a movie in front of the Christmas tree. Chris added: "One asleep, 2 to go! Home alone 2 on whilst I’m prepping the veg for tomo. Starting to feel Christmassy now! Wishing you all a very happy Christmas and a wonderful new year ahead. PS don’t forget sprouts aren’t just for Christmas!"
