Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce has had his blushes spared after the NFL cut out all audio from his heated exchange with coach Andy Reid during Super Bowl LVIII.

The clip was featured on 'Inside the NFL ', a programme that provides exclusive behind-the-scenes footage including mic'd-up moments. The audio capturing what Kelce said, however, had been conveniently cut. The flare-up occurred during a play that he was left out of.

Kelce's frustration seemed to reach boiling point as teammate Isiah Pacheco proceeded to fumble the ball and the play broke down. The 34-year-old reacted by slamming his helmet to the ground and shouting in Reid's face, almost knocking him over.

However, it seemed tension didn't linger between the pair; as they were seen sharing a fist bump and post-game, they hugged as they celebrated their victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

When asked about the fiery interaction, Kelce cheekily said: "Ah, you guys saw that? I'm gonna keep it between us unless my mic'd up tells the world. I was just telling him how much I love him." As the 'Inside the NFL' chose to mute the audio, unless Kelce discloses his comments at a later time, it will remain a mystery for those eager to know what was said.

However, Kelce has since admitted on his 'New Heights' podcast with brother Jason that his actions toward Reid were unacceptable. "I can't get that fired up to the point where bumping Coach and it's getting him off balance and stuff," he said.

"When he stumbled, I was like 'aw s***' in my head. If he had cold-c***** me in the face right there, I would have just ate it. I would have been like, 'Let's f****** go'." After the game, Coach Reid joked about the incident on CBS' postgame show.

"He keeps me young," he laughed. "He tested that hip out. He caught me off balance normally, I'd give him a little bit, but I didn't have any feet under me." The Chiefs went on to claim their third Super Bowl win in five years but they had to do it the hard way.

For just the second time in the game's history the Super Bowl went into overtime with the score tied at 19-19. The Niners won the toss and elected to receive the ball first, but only added three points to their total courtesy of a field goal.

Patrick Mahomes made a successful pass to Mecole Hardman who scored the winning touchdown just three seconds from the end. This secured back-to-back Super Bowl titles for the Chiefs, making them the first team to achieve this since the New England Patriots in 2003 and 2004.
