Arsenal fans make Jorginho prediction after spotting what he did on bench
Arsenal fans have tipped Jorginho as a future manager after Aaron Ramsdale revealed the Italian was the main man pushing Mikel Arteta to play Ethan Nwaneri against West Ham.
Nwaneri was brought on for the final 13 minutes of the rout of the Hammers for what was just his second senior appearance. The Gunners were 6-0 up as the academy star replaced Gabriel Martinelli.
Boss Arteta disclosed after the win that the players on the Arsenal bench were calling for Nwaneri to be brought on. Ramsdale then appeared to confirm that Jorginho was the man leading those calls.
Both Ramsdale and Jorginho were left on the bench as unused substitutes, though the midfielder was less concerned about getting himself onto the pitch. The keeper wrote on social media: "Get Ethan on @jorginhofrello."
Jorginho has been a fan of Nwaneri for some time since gaining his UEFA B coaching license while working with Arsenal's Under-14s a few years ago. And Gunners fans now believe the Italian could soon become a manager.
Chelsea complete record-breaking Enzo Fernandez transfer after deadline day rushOne said: "We have to keep him as a coach when he’s done playing." Another added: "His managerial potential is shining." While a third wrote: "Approval from Jorginho says enough and more about Nwaneri."
While some supporters are tipping him to become a top boss, Jorginho has proved he still has plenty of life in him as a player. The Italian was surprisingly brought into the starting line-up for the recent win over Liverpool.
But Jorginho rewarded Arteta for his faith, starring as the Gunners secured a comfortable win over the league leaders. After that game, Arteta reserved special praise for the Italy international.
"It’s a game that I had in my mind and imagining [for him to play], and how much, in my opinion, we were going to need him. It’s a team that doesn’t really allow you to put the fifth player in that front line the way they play," he said.
"Jorgi’s a really intelligent player, his biggest quality is that he makes the people around him better, he connects everybody, and he was unbelievable. I think he was man of the match. Unbelievable. I’ve always said that he’s an example, a role model.
"He’s been in a lot of pain as well, because he has an issue that he’s been carrying for months. He didn’t want to stop, he’s been playing with that, he’s been training as the first one in and the last one out.
"For all the kids, for everybody at the club, you want to look in the mirror at somebody, just look at him and how he behaves. He’s won everything, and if you ask him not to play, or to play one minute like last week, he’s happy to go there. You ask him to play 98 minutes at the rhythm and he’s able to do that, so I’m really lucky to have players like this."
