Harry and Meghan quietly launch second new website hinting at their future plans
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has launched another new website to act as a home for their post-royal work. The sussex.com site features information on their philanthropic works and details all the causes they support and highlight.
There was much excitement when the site went live with fans celebrating the new design, however others criticised their heavy use of their royal titles and Meghan's coat of arms. But what many people didn't notice is that the couple also launched a second new website at the same time.
The other website will be the home for their main business venture, Archewell Productions. This is the company through which they have produced shows like Heart of Invictus and their Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan. Its audio branch produced Meghan's podcast 'Archetypes', which was released on Spotify in 2022 before the couple parted ways with the streaming giant in June 2023.
The new Sussex website links out to archewellproductions.com - a domain that was registered back in April 2020, the same year that the couple brokered deals reported to be worth multimillions with Netflix and Spotify.
While the couple's deal with Spotify has since ended, with a statement between the couple and the streaming company noting they had "mutually agreed to part ways", the Sussex's deal with Netflix is still going strong. Last year, the couple bought the rights to the romance novel 'Meet Me at the Lake' by Carley Fortune, and are turning it into a movie for Netflix through Archewell Productions. The author confirmed the news, writng: "I'm so thrilled about working with Netflix and Archewell to bring Meet Me at the Lake to the screen".
Strictly's Molly Rainford and Tyler West fuel romance rumours while on tourFortune added that "Will and Fern's love story is dear to my heart, and I can't imagine a more perfect partnership". The novel is a New York Times bestseller and is set in Meghan's former home of Toronto, and sees two people in their thirties come back together nearly a decade after they first encountered each other.
In June 2023, a spokesperson for Netflix said to People Magazine in light of the couple's deal with Spotify ending, "We value our partnership with Archewell Productions".
The spokesperson added that "Harry & Meghan was Netflix's biggest documentary debut ever, and we'll continue to work together on a number of projects, including the upcoming documentary series Heart of Invictus."
In the UK 24.4 million people watched the documentary series the day the first episodes dropped. In the weeks after its release, Netflix confirmed that 81.55 million hours of viewing across 28 million households - per CBS News.
The deal brokered between the Sussexes and Netflix was reported to be worth $100 million (£80 million) and Harry has previously said that the deals were made because they had been financially cut off by the Royal Family and needed to pay hefty bills for their private security team.
