The Philadelphia Eagles are set for a summer of change, starting with a conseqiential decision about defensive lineman Haason Reddick. Despite being the top pass-rusher for the Eagles over the last two seasons, Reddick is now free to look for a trade.

After their disappointing exit from the playoffs at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Eagles have given Reddick the green light to find a new team, reports the league's official website. Reddick, who has been a Pro Bowler in both his seasons with the Eagles, joined the team after impressive stints with the Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers.

In 2023, Reddick managed 11 sacks, 23 quarterback hits, 13 tackles for loss and a pass defensed. But his best year was in 2022 when he achieved a career-high 16 sacks, tying with Myles Garrett for second-most in the NFL.

Reddick also led all defenders with five forced fumbles, helping the Eagles secure a Super Bowl LVII berth with his dominant performance. His efforts earned him Second-Team All-Pro honours and a fourth-place finish in Defensive Player of the Year voting.

However, this season saw a drop in his production as the Eagles struggled to shake off their Super Bowl hangover. The defence slipped from second in yards allowed and eighth in points allowed to 26th and 30th in these categories respectively.

The Eagles are bracing for a season of change. For the third year running, they're set to have a new defensive coordinator following Jonathan Gannon's move to become Cardinals head coach and Sean Desai's dismissal last month. This could be why Reddick might be leaving.

Vic Fangio has been brought in as the new defensive play-caller for the 2024 season. The experienced coach is expected to bring in his own team, which could mean some players will be moved around.

Reddick's salary is another factor. In 2022, he earned just $1.04 million, rising slightly to $1.08 million in 2023. His cap figure never went above $7 million. However, in 2024, Reddick is due to earn a base salary of $14.25 million and count $21.88 million against the cap.

Given his performance over the past few years, there's likely to be plenty of interest in Reddick. He's had four straight seasons with double-digit sacks, proving his talent across three different franchises.
