Patrick Mahomes voiced his determination to aim for a third consecutive Super Bowl victory following a night of jubilant celebrations in Las Vegas.

Following a nail-biting overtime win against the San Francisco 49ers, Mahomes lifted the Vince Lombardi Trophy for the third time in his career and was named the Most Valuable Player.

"I'm going to celebrate tonight. I'm going to celebrate at the parade," he said. "Then, I'll do whatever I can to be back in this game next year and try to go for that three-peat."

The Chiefs and their families painted the town red into the early hours of the morning at Zouk nightclub. A-listers like Taylor Swift, girlfriend of Travis Kelce, were amongst those celebrating the team's tremendous victory. Despite partying late into the night, Mahomes was up bright and early to honour his commitments at a final press conference on Monday.

Despite the euphoria of yet another big win, Mahomes remained focused on the ambition of making more sporting history by clinching a historic third consecutive Championship next year as he doubled down on the vow he immediately made after the game.

"It [would be] legendary," Mahomes said. "No one's ever done it and we knew it's legendary to win back-to-back."

"I think eight other teams have done it. We had heard it all week. We had talked to the guys [who had gone back-to-back] about it and we felt like we had the best opportunity that we had ever had to go out there and do that."

"We've got to continue to play our best football. We'll celebrate these next few weeks and then we'll get right back at it."

On Sunday night, he highlighted Tom Brady's dedication to winning as a shining example for his mindset to stay on top. After the game, he explained: "It's an ongoing thing in the NFL.

"Once you win that championship, you have those parades and you get those rings, and then you're not the champ anymore. You have to come back with that same mentality.

"I've learned from guys like [Tom] Brady who have been the greatest of all time, at the top of the level. That's my mindset. I'm going to celebrate with my guys for how we've done this, but then we're going to work our way to get back to this game next year."

Despite facing challenges during the season, the Chiefs' victory made Mahomes even more proud of their achievement.

"I think the biggest thing for me is the way we did it," he said. "The battle throughout the middle of the season, the continue to have that mindset of 'we're going to continue to believe'.

"It truly is special. I'm going to try to stop getting down 10 points in these games and make them a little bit easier, but I was proud of how the guys fought."
