Wrexham co-chairman Ryan Reynolds has demonstrated his class as he praised Bradford City after they inflicted what manager Phil Parkinson admitted was a 'painful' defeat.

The Red Dragons have encountered a downturn in results in recent weeks, with their latest loss their fourth in succession in all competitions. Their woes were compounded as the Bantams' Andy Cook earned his side all three points on the road with a timely 90th minute strike.

The North Wales outfit have now lost their last three games in League Two, damaging their chances of automatic promotion in the process. After a strong start to the campaign upon their return to the fourth tier, Wrexham now sit in fifth place in the standings after 29 games played.

Despite their recent rough patch, it appears that co-chairmen Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are keeping the faith when it comes to head coach Parkinson turning fortunes around. The pair both took to their social media pages in the wake of this latest loss to offer some words of support.

Reynolds appeared to take the result with good grace, as he praised Wrexham's opponents for their approach on their visit to the Racecourse Ground. Speaking in glowing terms on Twitter/ X, the 'Deadpool' actor said: ""The entire Bradford City squad played with so much heart today. Congrats."

Taking to the social network once more, to address the Dragons' latest loss, he appeared to issue a vote of confidence in the players and coaching staff to turn things around. Speaking positively despite the defeat, he remained convinced that the ingredients for success are in place.

Reynolds rallied: "We have all the tools. Just need to put it together. I love this squad," while his co-chairman Rob McElhenney spoke of his pride as he also gave the performance his seal of approval, even if points evaded them on this occasion, saying on Twitter/X: "Outstanding as always."

After losing in such a dramatic manner in front of their home supporters, however, the dejection of manager Parkinson was palpable - even if he did vow to remain buoyant moving forward. He admitted: "We're pleased we can get back out on the pitch again on Tuesday night, we've got to take the pain of losing, we haven't had it much."

The Wrexham head coach did acknowledge that he did see some green shoots of recovery in the defeat but also confessed that the recent poor run represents unchartered territory for this group of players. He said: "We haven't been on a run where it's not gone our way.

We've had so much go our way in games, and we've deserved that with the way we've played," Parkinson continued. "At the moment, things have gone against us, some of our own making, we have to say that. But [against Bradford] it just wouldn't fall for us when we really needed it to.

The Wrexham manager then suggested that the results will start to improve, adding: "Of course, there's areas we can be better at, we know that. But the lads responded well during the week and today, and on another day we could have won that game comfortably."
