Beyonce broke the Internet after dropping new hits during the Super Bowl

Beyonce starred in a Super Bowl ad for Verizon where she tried various ways to break the internet - and then she actually did.

"Okay, they ready. Drop the new music," she ended the advert saying. Two new songs by the Grammy Award winning star dropped two new singles on streaming services right then and Beyonce announced her next album, a part two to Renaissance.

Her new album, only described as Act II of Renaissance, will hit the internet on March 29. When Renaissance was dropped in 2022, it was promoted as "Act I" but no further information was given at the time.

The two singles Beyonce released, Texas Hold 'Em and 16 Carriages, are both country-inspired bops - a tribute to Beyonce's hometown of Houston, Texas. This isn't the first time that Beyonce has leaned into country, as heard on her 2016 song Daddy Lessons off her Lemonade album.

For the single cover of Texas Hold 'Em, Beyonce is standing against a brown backdrop as she wears a black cropped Saint Laurent jacket, a black cowboy hat, a shiny bra, big silver dangling earrings, and a black belt around her waist that was connected to a silver heart by two silver chains.

The cover of 16 Carriages was a black and white photo of a close-up of Beyonce wearing a lacy black button-up shirt and a floppy black hat. Her hair was done in a short bob that flared out at the end.

The two songs reached the top of the Apple Music US Country charts, making Beyonce the first black female artist to reach the top of that chart. She's also the first black female artist to have the first and second positions on that chart simultaneously.

Fans are also piecing together the reason why Beyonce looked so unrecognisable at the Grammy Awards last week. The star arrived wearing a white cowboy hat and a leather bolo tie to the big music event.

They're also acknowledging the fact that they might not be typical country music fans but are still supportive of Beyonce's transition. One Twitter fan posted a reaction video of Raven Symone wearing a cowgirl-inspired outfit and captioned it: "Me supporting Beyoncé doing country music despite not liking country music."
