Martin Kemp and wife give Roman dating tips as they'd 'love' to have grandkids
Martin Kemp has said he would love to be a grandad, and his wife Shirlie has even offered advice to son Roman.
The former Spandau Ballet star has been married to Shirlie for over 30 years, having first started dating when they were in their twenties. They welcomed two children together - singer-songwriter Harley Moon, 34, and radio presenter Roman, 31. The Kemp family have a tight bond with each other, with Roman, Shirlie and Martin appearing on Celebrity Gogglebox.
However, it seems talk has turned to the next generation of their family as Martin has opened up about becoming a grandad. The 62-year-old said: “If it happened tomorrow, I would love it, absolutely love it."

Roman recently opened up about becoming a dad (Dave J Hogan/Getty Images for Sony)Speaking to Hello! he added: "But I won't be chasing them – if it happens, it happens," as he insisted it is his children's "choice". Shirlie, who appeared with Martin as Cat and Mouse on The Masked Singer, shared her dating advice for her 31-year-old son. She said: "With Harley, I'll say ‘Make sure he's chasing you, don't you chase.’ And with Roman, I'll say, ‘Treat her nice’."
Roman has also recently opened up on becoming a dad as he playfully referred to Martin as 'grandad' while discussing his hopes for his children to see them both on TV one day. He said to Hello Magazine: "My dad and I get to work with each other all the time, and I'm so lucky for that. The reason we work together is that I know how much I'm going to love my kids and my family watching that footage of me and their grandad working together - and that's just our relationship."

When it comes to his romantic life, Roman has been keeping quiet about whether or not there's a special lady in his life. Roman has only ever confirmed being in a relationship with his ex-girlfriend, Anne-Sophie. In 2022, he was linked to Love Island's Maura Higgins after they reportedly "grew close" at the Brits after party.
He was also linked to German model Jette Kerkoff, with reports of a holiday to Mykonos and Roman liking her Instagram pictures. In 2021, it was reported that Roman had found love with Australian radio producer Codie Jones, who even met his parents. Between 2018 and 2020, Roman was official with Swiss scientist Anne-Sophie Flury.
They matched on Tinder but ended their relationship after three years during lockdown. The couple had a Chihuahua pup called Luna together and were often seen gushing over each other on social media. Anne-Sophie even flew to Australia to support Roman when he entered I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! in 2019.
Roman recently ruled out participating in the BBC hit show Strictly Come Dancing due to its romances between stars. He confessed that he would be concerned about Strictly viewers speculating about off-screen romances sparked by on-screen chemistry with dance partners.
Speaking to OK! Magazine, he admitted: "I think sometimes the show takes away from the skill of the dancers and it becomes like a soap opera of who's dating who." However, he did leave room for one exception as he added: "The only way I'd do Strictly is if I was teamed up with Johannes [Radebe]."
