The evil killer of Brianna Ghey searched for her name online - and then boasted "I know how famous I am", it has been reported.

Scarlett Jenkinson, 16, is said to have dismissed the agony of her victim’s parents, telling shocked staff at her young offenders' institution: “They don’t mean anything to me.” Asked if she felt regret, the warped teen reportedly replied: “I did for two hours. Now I don’t give a f**k, and I’d do it again,” The Sun reports.

Jenkinson was sentenced to at least 22 years in detention, and will be transferred to an adult jail when she turns 18, for the murder of Brianna. She and Eddie Ratcliffe, both 15 at the time, lured the schoolgirl to Linear Park in Warrington, Cheshire, and stabbed her repeatedly in February last year.

Flowers, candles and a painting of Brianna were laid in Warrington yesterday, as Brianna's family held a vigil one year on from the killing. Her mum Esther revealed last week she keeps her daughter's ashes in a pink casket in the pink-loving teen’s bedroom. “Every time something significant has happened, we’ve had pink skies," Esther said.

"When the verdict came in there were unusual rainbow clouds and then on the day of the sentencing, there were lovely pink skies… Pink was Brianna’s favourite colour. It gives me comfort to know she’s ok, and she’s sending me these signs to tell me that she’s happy and she’s all right."

Brianna, who was transgender, met Jenkinson at school just ten weeks before the murder. Jenkinson had led Brianna to believe she was her friend but the twisted youth, who watched torture videos on the dark web, teamed up with Ratcliffe to kill Brianna. The evil duo stabbed vulnerable Brianna 28 times with a £13.50 hunting knife before they were disturbed by dog walkers. Transphobic Ratcliffe, now also 16, faces a minimum of 20 years. He too will be transferred to an adult jail when he turns 18.

A source at the secure unit in Leeds, in which Jenkinson is housed, told The Sun: "Before she was found guilty at trial she wasn’t publicly identified in the media but she Googled her name and found people talking about her. She loved the idea of fame. It was one of the only times I saw genuine emotion from her. She was proud of what she did. It was chilling."

A judge decided to lift the reporting restriction in place which had given Jenkinson and Ratcliffe anonymity throughout their trial. So, they were both named and pictured upon sentencing at Manchester Crown Court on Friday February 2. Sentencing Jenkinson, from Warrington, Judge Mrs Justice Yip said: "Your motivation Scarlett was to act out our fantasies. The messages show you wanted to make a real victim feel pain and fear." She said Brianna was killed with "exceptional brutality."
