Coronation Street's Sam Robertson confessed to sleeping with soap groupies during his first stint on the show.

The actor, who made his debut as Adam Barlow in 2004 aged just 18, admitted that fans would even call him by his character's name in bed. Sam, now 38, starred on the ITV soap for three years before leaving in 2007. He returned nearly ten years later and has been a regular on the Cobbles since then.

Speaking about his experiences with the Corrie "groupies", Sam said they were "nice but kind of odd," and would often hang around outside the set which was located in Manchester City Centre at the old Granada Studios. Despite finding some of the encounters "weird", he admitted he had a lot of fun at the time.

The star recalled: "I'd go to nightclubs and there were always loads of dolly birds hanging around looking for fun and I had lots of fun. But girls still called me Adam half the time. It's weird when the girl shouts out your character's name in bed." Sam brutally went on to say: "It's also an easy excuse to kick them out on the street and not have to pay for dinner though!"

Sam quit Corrie in 2007 due to the attention he received from female fans. Since returning to Weatherfield in 2016, his character Adam married Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien). However, their relationship ended last year when Sarah had an affair with Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths).

It seemed like the couple might reunite around Christmas, but when Damon returned, Sarah chose him over Adam. Since then, Adam has been scheming to get rid of Damon.

Adam has now struck a deal with Damon's brother Harvey Gaskell (played by Will Mellor), who is currently behind bars at His Majesty's pleasure for killing Natasha Blakeman (played by Rachel Leskovac). In return for helping Harvey escape prison, the drug lord agreed to eliminate Damon for good.

He suggested that the only way to free him from jail was to blame Natasha's murder on someone else. Later, Harvey informed Adam that a man named John Perry is ready to confess. When Adam found John, he was shocked to discover the man was battling cancer. n a recent interview, the actor opened up about his character and how he's changed since his return in 2016. "When I came back to the show I watched a lot of classic Corrie and what his dad Mike Baldwin had was that perfect mix of being a little bit cocky, yes at times a bit smarmy, but he also had that charm and I wanted Adam to have his charm," he said.

"The team have tried to shape Adam in the same vein and I think we’ve seen the nice guy a lot more since he’s been married to Sarah. She’s calmed him down, the lothario has gone since he’s had that security so I definitely like him a lot more now than I did a few years ago and hopefully the audience feels the same."
