Have you ever gone to McDonald's filled with excitement because you're going to buy one of their delicious McFlurries or milkshakes and had your dreams shattered after being told the ice cream machine is broken?

You might be thinking, how many times a day is this ice cream machine broken? Do they need a better technician? Does the fast food restaurant need to invest in better equipment?

According to a person on social media, who claims they are a former McDonald's employee, there's a reason they tell customers this.

Taking to Reddit's You Should Know forum, one anonymous user wants people to know why Maccie's employees always tell you the ice cream machine is broken. They claimed: "As someone who used to work at McDonald’s, it’s because the ice cream machine is never cleaned."

They continued: "I was told they are supposed to have it cleaned roughly every day, but they only clean it around every month.

"Because it's not taken care of, it breaks down really easily. They end up having to call a repair man to come and fix it which takes forever, just for them to basically put some tape on it and call it a day.

"It'll start working again only for it to break down a few days later, and rinse and repeat."

There are often people complaining about McDonald's ice cream machine being broken on social media.

Recently, one person shared a meme of someone looking disappointed, with the caption: "When you go to McDonald's and they say the ice cream machine broke down."

Another said: "Drove to three different McDonald's and none of them had a working ice cream machine. I just wanted a Oreo McFlurry."

A third asked: "Why is the McDonald's ice cream/milkshake machine always broken?".

The Mirror has approached McDonald's for comment.

McFlurries are an incredibly popular item at the fast food chain, but the spoon you eat it with has recently baffled many customers.

Many fast-food lovers have thought the plastic spoons were actually straws, only to be disappointed when they found they couldn't suck the leftover ice cream up at the end.

However, it turns out the spoon is actually designed for the McDonald's staff when they prepare the McFlurry for you.
