Gladiators star left apologising to Bradley Walsh over 'disrespectful' dig

A Gladiators contestant was left apologising to host Bradley Walsh as she savagely took the mick out of his joke.

The BBC show returned on Saturday night as four new players took on the team of Gladiators. One of the contenders included Betti from Bolton, who faced off against Irish contestant Tuathlaith. However, during the Wall challenge, Betti was grabbed by Diamond and fell off the wall.

Tuathlaith managed to make it all the way up the Wall without being taken down by a Gladiator, securing 10 points. After the task host Bradley had a chat with both Tuathlaith and Betti. Bradley told Betti: "Betti, a slip in the very first seconds of that." She replied: "Yes I slipped, it is what it is. Move forward."

Bradley quipped: "Or move upwards." Betti then took the mick out of Bradley's joke as she said: "Move upwards," while winking. Bradley fumed: "So unnecessary Betti." The contestant replied: "Sorry, it was so disrespectful," as Bradley told her: "Don't worry about it everyone is disrespectful to me. Betti you don't score but at least you get to take the micky out of me."

Betti was then taken to the medical room after sustaining an injury during the next round. However, she was given the all-clear to carry on with the competition and secured five points in Duel. As they went into the Eliminator, Tuathlaith got a 13 and a half second head start over Betti. Despite the advantage, Betti impressively caught her up and won.

Last week, Bradley's joke left him in another sticky situation but this time with his son and co-star Barney Walsh. The Chase star made Barney cringe after making a cheeky comment about "swinging" just before the Hang Tough Challenge. Barney found himself pleading with his dad never to make a racy quip again following the banter between father and son.

As the Gladiators hosts introduced the Hang Tough Challenge, Barney wasn't too impressed when Bradley cheekily announced: "And now, it's time for a bit of swinging." Barney quickly asked his dad with a laugh, "Please, don't ever say that again." The star, famous for his funny exchanges on The Chase, decided to pretend he didn't understand what Barney was on about. He casually responded, "I don't know what you're [talking about]. It's Hang Tough!".

While in another show, Bradley had his turn at scolding Barney when he naughtily mentioned the word "tackles" while introducing a new game. As they spoke about The Ring, one of their new games, Bradley said: "Thank you very much indeed, it's time for one of our new games - The Ring. The trick is to make it to the centre of the ring without getting tackled by the gladiators. Barney chimed in: "I'll tell you what, that is not easy because as we've seen, a lot of our gladiators have impressive tackles." Bradley quickly interjected: "Leave it," before adding "It's the ring."
