Usher's net worth as R&B icon gets set to headline Super Bowl halftime show

Usher is headlining this year's Super Bowl halftime show and has promised his performance will be "unlike anything" fans have seen before.

The R&B icon was confirmed as the halftime performer in September on social media, with the NFL using the intro to Usher's Confessions Part II music video in collaboration with Kim Kardashian to make the announcement. His performance also coincides with the release of his ninth studio album which is set to feature his previous 2023 release “Good Good,” featuring Summer Walker and 21 Savage.

The track reached No. 12 on Billboard‘s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. As a singer, songwriter, producer and actor, the 44-year-old created successful tracks including hits such as "Superstar", "My Boo" and "OMG". These and many more led to Usher earning several Grammy, Billboard, and American Music awards - as well as a huge net worth.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Usher has a net worth of $180million (£142million) and an estimated annual income of $15million (£11.9million). He is considered one of the most successful and financially influential artists in the industry.

The superstar has been entertaining audiences since he was a child, first performing with a group of pre-teens and then appearing on "Star Search" at the age of 13. This led to a meeting with LA Reid and LaFace Records, which sparked his success.

His debut album had sold 500,000 copies even before Usher completed high school and his second album "My Away" was released the year he turned 19. Other popular albums included "Here I Stand", "8701" and "Confessions", which achieved Diamond status after selling more than 10million copies.

It is estimated Usher has so far sold around 80 million records globally, meaning he is one of the best-selling artists of all time. Apart from his music career, he also appeared in guest starring and supporting roles in projects such as "The Faculty", "Moesha" and "Killers", while also spending time as a judge on "The Voice". He also co-founded RBMG Records, the record company that introduced Justin Bieber to the world.

But Usher's impact goes beyond entertainment as his non-profit charity, New Look, aims to provide education and real-world experiences to young people. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, he put money towards recovery efforts and scholarship programs, showing his commitment to social causes.

After being confirmed as the Super Bowl halftime show headliner, Usher gushed about his upcoming opportunity and said: "This is the most grand stage to ever play on. Those 13 minutes [on stage] mean everything. It's been on my bucket list for a long time.

"I've been asked what are the things that matter the most and it's obviously performing but being able to perform on that stage because all of these amazing performers throughout the years have graced it and did an amazing job, so that's where the obsession with that starts," he told Apple Music. "There's excitement in this moment...You remember the first time you ever heard your record play on the radio, you remember the first time you ever heard your voice on a format. This is like that for me," he concluded.

The announcement was made by Kim Kardashian in a fun video shared by the NFL on X, formerly known as Twitter. "USHER. LAS VEGAS. APPLE MUSIC HALFTIME SHOW. #SBLVIII. See you on February 11 on @NFLonCBS!" they wrote alongside the clip.

In the video, Kim called Usher to tell him the exciting news as he was busy recording music in the studio. As Usher tried to put the phone down, Kim insisted it was urgent. "I finally got the answer to those rumours, it's not about me it's about you," she told him. "You're doing the Super Bowl."

Usher was in disbelief and said: "You're playing with me man." After asking Kim how she knew, she replied: "I know everything." The mother-of-four then joked that she would be needing tickets for all of her family and friends.

Speaking about the announcement in a statement, Usher said: "It's an honour of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list. I can't wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else they've seen from me before. Thank you to the fans and everyone who made this opportunity happen. I'll see you real soon."
