Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have made a generous £10,000 donation to help a young fan born with a rare genetic condition called TUBA1A.

The condition severely limits four-year-old Louis Perrin's mobility and a Help4Louis fundraiser has been started on JustGiving with the aim of raising £40,000 so that his family can make their home more accessible.

Louis also has epilepsy and cerebral palsy and suffers from painful leg spasms, meaning he is now dependent on using a wheelchair. The fundraiser was started by Wrexham Police FC, who are also staging a charity match to raise money for Louis on March 23, and Reynolds and McElhenney have got involved.

They also shared a message Reynolds sent them about the campaign, which read: "It's our third anniversary of becoming stewards of the club. Today! Thanks for all your help bringing attention to great causes around town. Happy Anniversary!"

The pair then made a £10,000 donation to the fundraiser, sharing the message: "Up the town, young man." The club said of their donation: "Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney have generously donated £10,000 to help Louis & his family adapt their home. Ryan Reynolds has also sent us a message of support.

"Happy Anniversary guys, thanks for all you have done for #Wrexham you’re both truly incredible! #Help4Louis" The page now stands at almost £18,000 raised and Louis' dad Aaron has thanked the two Hollywood stars for their support.

"The generosity and class displayed by Rob and Ryan to the club, town, and now city continue," he told local newspaper the Leader. "We can not believe our little boy has sparked this much interest. The response from our community is incredible. Rob and Ryan, you don't realise how much this will help Louis and our family."

As part of the appeal, Louis' parents explained: "Currently the need for constant support in the home has a detrimental effect on Louis's happiness. He is frustrated by his dependence on others.

"He cannot access his bedroom, move around, and play like his brother and friends. By helping fund adaptations, you are helping Louis stay in a safe and happy home with our family."

Reynolds and McElhenney have made donations to a number of worthy causes since taking charge of Wrexham back in 2021, including a fundraiser for club legend Martyn Chalk after he suffered a broken femur and fractures to his legs after being involved in a road traffic collision while holidaying in Thailand.
