Take Me Out's Paddy McGuinness gobsmacked as couple who met on show share update
A couple who met and fell for each other on ITV ’s Take Me Out have approached show host Paddy McGuinness to provide an update on their romance - which is going strong.
The hit dating show - hosted by 50-year-old Paddy - was on air for 10 years before it was cancelled in 2020. The show involved single suitors appearing in front of a host of other singletons and they revealed more about themselves in each round. If the singleton liked the suitor, they left their light on - but if they did not, they would turn the light out.
Once the prospective partners were whittled down to just two, the suitor then picked a favourite to take on a romantic date to the mythical island of Fernando - which was, in fact, Tenerife. There were instances where suitors were rejected by all of the prospective partners if they all turned their lights out - and this was referred to as a blackout.
But one couple met on the show and have since gone on to enjoy a thriving romance. They are still together and have even welcomed two children - and their social media account has now gone viral.

He sent a message to Paddy via X, writing: “@PaddyMcGuinness heard you might be looking for ex-Take Me Out contestants that are still together.”

He also shared before and after images bookending the beginning of their romance and their current status. He wrote in the first image: “2012 - Did we make it?” And added to the more recent snap: "2023 - Yes we did”.
Fans of the iconic dating show have marvelled at the snaps - and rejoiced at the fact the couple are still together and started a family. One impressed Take Me Out fan wrote: “Oh my God, I remember seeing you guys on the show years back. So cute, beautiful family.” Another wrote: “Noooo wayyy, this is beautiful!!!.”

TV fans were heartbroken in February 2020 when ITV announced they were cancelling the dating show.
An ITV spokesperson said the show had run it's course, declaring: "We’ve decided to say goodbye to Take Me Out. ITV and Paddy have done all the specials you can eke out of a dating show, so it’s been decided it’s time for it to go. As with many shows, ratings have slid a bit in recent years. But it will go down as a big success — it’s had more weddings than Blind Date."
