The Chase fans were excited to spot a Royal family link among the contestants on Thursday's episode of the ITV quiz show.

As host Bradley Walsh introduced Josh, Sarah, Fergus and Ann, viewers noticed that the last three names sounded like Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York. After Josh faced off with Chaser Anne 'The Governess' Hegerty first, fans pointed out that the remaining trio's seating positions seemed deliberate.

Fans quickly took to X (formerly Twitter ) to comment on the names, with one saying: "I see the Duchess of York is on the #thechase this evening! Sarah Fergus Ann - not sure how Josh fits in though." Another fan joked: "Up next Sarah.Fergus.Ann, just Josh ing... #TheChase." A third added: "Sarah, Fergus, Ann... F***ing really?"

And a fourth quipped: "Sarah Ferguson's fallen on hard times #TheChase." Unfortunately, the 'Royal' trio had no real connection to the royals - Sarah is a 33-year-old driving instructor from Ipswich, Fergus is a 54-year-old postal worker from Glasgow, and Ann is a 69-year-old retired human resources manager from Reading.

Josh, who works in quality assurance, surprised viewers when he revealed to host Brad that he's also a professional wrestler known as J K Roberts. It comes after Bradley revealed that filming sometimes has to be stopped due to the 'mistakes' made while reading questions. Despite the show's consistent format and smooth running, there have been instances when things didn't go as planned.

Bradley doesn't see the questions any sooner than the contestants, leading to occasional errors. He recently told Radio Times: "If there is a slight misread, I am stopped immediately, bang, by the lawyers." He added that he has to ask questions super fast on the telly quiz.

He explained: "You have to be at such a speed: if you're a contestant and I go 'What's... the capital... of France... ' they'd be dead and buried in 30 seconds. I have to make sure they get up to speed and they're getting about 18 or 19 questions answered correctly. That's the real banana skin score [that will trip the chasers up]. Once the chasers get in a rhythm there's no stopping them. They can answer 24, 25 questions in two minutes We've even almost reached 30."
