La Liga president Javier Tebas has claimed there's a "55-60 per cent" chance that Real Madrid will finally sign Kylian Mbappe this summer.

Mbappe, 25, is out of contract at Paris Saint-Germain in June and the longer the French superstar goes without agreeing a new deal, the more likely his departure is. That means Real - who've chased Mbappe for the past two years - will be able to sign him on a free transfer when the summer window opens, with Los Blancos attempting to satisfy the PSG forward's staggering financial demands.

As Tebas sees it, Real are edging closer to completing a blockbuster deal, one which would no-doubt break records and help in Tebas' bid to make Spanish football the force it once was during Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi's prime years. Speaking to Italian media, the La Liga chief explained: "I said [the chances] were around 50 per cent some weeks ago, now it's even more.

"55-60? Yes, I think so. Every day that passes and Mbappe does not sign the new contract with PSG, the percentage increases."

He was also asked about Real's potential to make further signings after Mbappe - like Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies - as Carlo Ancelotti's side must stay within La Liga's salary cap. "I don't know the costs of Mbappe deal but in any case, Real have an excellent financial situation," Tebas replied. "They never did crazy things in the recent years."

Tebas' comments come hot off the heels of PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi issuing an update on Mbappe's hotly-debated future. "When we have both decided, we will let you know what's gonna happen with Mbappe," Al-Khelaifi said.

After lifting the French Super Cup last month, Mbappe admitted that he's still mulling over his future. "I haven't made my decision, I didn't make a choice," the 25-year-old, who'll feature at the Euros in Germany and the Paris Olympic Games this summer, revealed.

"But in any case, with the agreement I made with the president this summer, whatever my decision we managed to protect all the parties. And to preserve the serenity of the club for the challenges to come, which is the most important.

"When will I decide? I do not know. In 2022, I waited because I didn't know until May. If I know what I'm going to do, I'm not going to hang around. That does not make any sense. But like I said, the most important thing is to win trophies."
