Emmerdale Tom King's dad Carl death and past explained as storyline revisited
Emmerdale aired a blast from the past on Wednesday night as the hit ITV soap revisited a previous storyline.
During the latest episode, Angelica King struggled with the aftermath of her deadly bombshell. Only recently, Angelica confessed that she was the one driving the car when Heath Hope died during the New Year's car crash horror. Last week, protective parents Nicola and Jimmy prepared for Angelica's court hearing.
On Thursday night, Nicola and Jimmy learnt that the charges against Cathy Hope, who was also involved in the crash, had been dropped on their way to court. However, the same couldn't be said for Angelica as her charges were not dropped and after pleading guilty she faces a custodial sentence, where she could be detained for at least a few years.
On Wednesday's episode, Angelica struggled after seeing her dad Jimmy in tears and was later comforted by family member Tom King in the village. Tom said he knew how she felt, adding: "I was about your age when my dad died. I didn't know how to feel about it. One minute I was so angry, and the next I was just scared."
Longtime soap watchers will remember Tom's late father Carl and his death but for new viewers the throwback may have been confusing. Here, we take a look at the past storyline which was revisited on Wednesday night.
EastEnders' Jake Wood's snap of son has fans pointing out the pair's likenessTom is the son of killer Carl King. Carl was killed off during a live episode back in 2012 when serial killer Cameron Murray attacked him. Chas Dingle had attacked him shortly before this after he tried to rape her while Carl also killed his own father, also called Tom, in 2006.
It comes as Tom turns on his bride Belle Dingle more than once next week on the ITV soap, amid fans fearing a dark storyline is ahead. The pair reunited last year, years after they were first together as teens. A couple of instances have left fans concerned for Belle though, fearing Tom could be dangerous and that an abuse storyline could be planned by bosses.
Just months ago Belle covered up the fact that Tom turned violent and shoved her, causing her to hit her head after he proposed to her and didn't get the answer he wanted. The pair have since moved past it, but moments across the last few months have seen her constantly having to reassure him and him constantly questioning her loyalty.
As well as making digs at her and her family, he's shown signs he can be controlling and fans are worried. Next week's episodes will likely only heighten this concern, as a number of incidents see him calling her out for no real reason during their wedding.
