Balamory co-stars Kim Tserkezie and Miles Jupp reunited earlier this week, almost two decades since having worked together on the beloved CBeebies pre-school show.

The BAFTA-winning show, which focused on a fictional small island community off the coast of Scotland, launched on the BBC children's channel back in 2002. The programme ran for four series before coming to an end in 2005.

Kim, now 50, played the character Penny Pocket on the show. Penny ran the village shop and cafe in Balamory with her pal Suzie Sweet (played by Mary Riggans). Whilst Kim's former co-star Miles, now 44, had played inventor Archie.

Kim and Miles posed for a photo together earlier this week and are understood to have reunited in her home city of Newcastle. Miles is on a stand-up tour at the moment and performed at the Tyne Theatre & Opera House on Monday.

The pair looked worlds away from their Balamory characters in the selfie that was shared by Kim on social media that evening. She was seen smiling beside her former colleague Miles, who she expressed her adoration of in the caption. She wrote: "I adore this man so much! Joyous to catch up with the fabulous Miles Jupp. He's on tour at the mo! Go see him if you can!" The caption was used for a post by Kim on X, formerly Twitter, as well as on Instagram.

There was reaction on both platforms this week, with one person writing in the comments section: "We love a mini #Balamory reunion!" Whilst someone else responded: "This is unbelievable meeting Archie as a surprise small reunion."

A third person commented on one of the posts: "Yess Penny Pocket and Archie." Another follower reacted: "Two of my favourite characters in Balamory." Someone else called for a revival of the show, writing: "Please bring back Balamory."

Since starring in the CBeebies show, Kim has continued to act and ventured in producing. She launched production agency Scattered Pictures in 2011 to "champion change through representation, diversity and inclusion". It's said to come following Kim's own experiences as a disabled actor.

Kim - who's understood to have been diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy when she was younger - was named in the Shaw Trust's DisabilityPower100 list just last year. She featured in the top 10 of the entertainment category.

Her former colleague Miles has appeared in various projects since they starred in Balamory. His acting credits over the years have included shows like Rev, Sex Education and Grantchester. He's also known for his career as a comedian.

Miles is currently on his On I Bang… tour, which launched last month. He's already visited venues in locations such as Salford, Bristol, Milton Keynes and Cardiff. The tour is scheduled to continue for another few months until May.
