"She'd been at university and then she's just gone through a bad time and started drinking, then her mental health got really bad because of other things that happened in her life."

Luci, who also suffered with alcoholism, added that there is not enough mental health support for those struggling with addiction. She said: "She didn't get the help she needed."

In a tribute on Facebook, another friend said: "Gemma you were the life and soul of everywhere we went! We always had a ball whether it was a Nando’s or a night out! You had the most infectious laugh and were loved by everyone. From the day I met you on the 55 (which we always laughed about) I always knew you’d have me up to some sort of mischief in work, but I’d have it no other way! We made so many amazing memories over the last 10 years, New York, Ibiza and I wish we could of made more! I wish things were different and I can only hope you can now find some peace. I will miss you forever."
