Kansas City Chiefs' star Kadarius Toney, has spoken out about his recent social media activity, whille seeming to aim a subtle dig at teammate Patrick Mahomes.

As the Chiefs gear up for Super Bowl LVIII, Toney's fitness has been the subject of debate, with the wide receiver missing from recent games. Toney last played for the Chiefs on December 17 against the New England Patriots, meaning he's missed the team's last six matches.

Since then, hip and ankle problems, as well as personal commitments, have kept him off the field during the Wild Card round and the AFC Championship Game. Chiefs fans were also left worried after Toney's recent Instagram Live post, where the injured player issued a bizarre address.

Before the Chiefs' AFC Championship showdown against the Baltimore Ravens, which eventually saw KC secure their Super Bowl spot, he told his followers that any suggestions that he is injured are wide of the mark. Embarking on a stunning rant, the wide receiver said: "I'm not hurt."

"On God, not hurt, none of that. What else? I'm in a body cast right now, at this point," the 25-year-old continued as he appeared to ask for more clarity to be given to fans about his situation, calling on unnamed personnel to 'go tell 'em what's really going on' in an unexpected outburst.

Addressing the remarks made by the Chiefs ace on his social media, NFL Network's Michael Robinson broached the subject with Toney on Super Bowl LVIII Opening Night. Among the questions asked was whether he sees himself as a 'No. 1 receiver in this league', to which he gave a cryptic response.

"Yeah, if I get the ball," he replied, with this response a potential shot at Chiefs teammate Mahomes. With his role as wide receiver reliant on the service provided by his superstar quarterback, his comment could suggest a lack of chemistry on the field between the duo.

This aside, the Chiefs ace again shut down concerns over his health, telling viewers that he is 'good', while giving a response over whether his previous comments on Instagram were his way of putting his 'version of the events out'. Now, Toney has also claimed that his remarks were taken out of context.

"Yeah, it kinda started that, but in the process of that, I get interrupted, so it got like, a mixed message behind it I guess you could say, he claimed, going on to explain: " he explained. He then clarified: "Then a lot of footage got chopped up and released so it made it like I was attacking the ones I love the most."

Toney then denied that he had been in any way critical of the Chiefs, while claiming that fans of the New York Giants were actually the subject of his ire. "I never attacked the Chiefs, never said anything about the Chiefs, who I was referring to was the Giants fans," he claimed.

"The people in my comments, my comment box, not even on my live recording so you wouldn't even know they were there but I was referring to them, which I shouldn't have. I just wanted to go out there and how you said, get my message across as far as my injury, but I shouldn't have did that. At the end of the day, I'm a man, and I accept my mistakes just like I accept my wins. I'm just moving past that right now."
