A woman has been arrested after a man was stabbed outside a school in north London this afternoon, reportedly leaving pupils "shaken".

Children were reportedly left "shaken and upset" as they were kept inside at Capel Manor Primary School in Enfield until 4.30pm following the incident. The school was reportedly placed under a precautionary lockdown, as officers and London Ambulance Service members attended the scene.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman added: "Police were called at approximately 3.15pm on Tuesday to reports of a man stabbed at a school in Bullsmoor Lane, Enfield.

"Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found a man, aged in his 40s, suffering a stab injury – he was taken to hospital for treatment; his condition is not life threatening.

"A 34-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of GBH and remains in custody. No pupils or staff at the school were involved in this incident. Enquiries into the circumstances continue."

Although Mail Online reports youngster were upset, police confirmed no pupils or staff were involved in the incident and enquires into the circumstances continue.

Bullsmoor Lane is in the north of Enfield, near junction 25 of the M25, which orbits the capital. The road connects the Enfield Lock area in the east to Forty Hill area in the west, near Tottenham Hotspur's training ground. The school, which caters for more than 370 pupils aged between four and 11, is along the road's western stretch, and close to Capel Manor Gardens, which has areas designated to Princess Diana.
