Alison Hammond has taken a blow to her career as one of her TV projects has been binned off.

The 49-year-old television personality first shot to fame way back in 2002 when she was a contestant on season three of Big Brother - having earlier enjoying some success as a TV actress. After her time in the reality show house, Alison began building up an impressive career as a TV presenter - landing roles on ITV’s This Morning and Loose Women and Channel 4’s The Great British Bake Off.

And while Alison’s star power seems to continue to rise, there are signs that it might be beginning to dim. Reports have suggested that a dance competition the star was due to host has been axed before ever making it to air. It is suggested that the show, that was due to be called Clear The Dance-floor, won’t be taken beyond the pilot stage. The first episode was filmed in February 2023, with Alison helming the series - but the BBC has reportedly opted to pull the plug.

A source told The Sun: “This will be gutting for Alison, as getting an ongoing gig on the Beeb is seen as many a presenter's ultimate goal. There were high hopes for Clear The Dance-floor as it seemed to tap into the same energy as Strictly, which she appeared on in 2014. But she won't be short of work this year anyway.”

Clear The Dance-floor had been teased as a “high-energy, primetime dance show” and a call out stated: "We’re looking for a fun-loving audience for the pilot episode, where – alongside our superstar judges - you’ll decide who stays and who goes from the competition." The BBC declined to comment when asked for a statement about the reports. The Mirror has contacted a representative of Alison for comment.

News that the new show won’t actually be created will be a blow to This Morning presenter Alison - as she recently lost another job on the BBC. Singing game show I Can See Your Voice had Alison on the judging panel - but it was axed by the corporation after two seasons.

In more fortunate news, it was announced last week that Alison will be taking over from the late Paul O'Grady as the host of his heartwarming series For The Love Of Dogs. Alison announced the exciting news - while also acknowledging the fact she had big shoes to fill after Paul passed away in March last year at the age of 67.

Alison said in a statement: "I am very aware that I can never replace the iconic Paul in this wonderful series, but if I can continue to shine a light on the brilliant work done at Battersea and help to tell the stories of these beautiful dogs, then it will be an absolute privilege to give it my all. I can't wait to share the joy of their searches for new, loving, forever homes and hopefully make lots of furry friends of my own along the way."
