Love Island's Faye Winter has opened up about the dark side of the All Stars series.

The star who appeared in series seven of the ITV programme in 2021 and eventually finished in third place alongside her ex-boyfriend Teddy Soares. But despite being single, Faye previously ruled out a return to the villa and admitted that she was taking time to focus on herself and her adorable dog, Bonnie.

But that hasn't stopped her keeping up to date with the programme which has seen the likes of Chris Taylor, Arabella Chi, Demi Jones and Mitchel Taylor return to the villa. They are joined by Faye's close friends, Toby Aromolaran and Kaz Kamwi, whom she is rooting for.

Speaking about the show, Faye exclusively told the Mirror: "I've dipped in and out, I've watched bits – I love, Love Island. I absolutely adore it, two of my closest friends are in there, I'm always supporting them, you can't get away from it on social media, can you?! I'm seeing lots of clips.

"I mean, they're brave for doing it a second time around, Love Island is incredible, there have been amazing couples come out of that show so it proves it can work. I'm proud of my two friends that are in there and I'm really proud of everybody who's gone in their two do it a second time." The 28-year-old continued: "It is hard, it is reality TV but it's incredible, good for them.

"I'm away from it, whereas a lot of people know each other in the villa at the moment, I don't know any of them, apart from a couple from my series and a few I've met at events, I'm in Devon, I'm not in that circle, I don't know any of them really, apart from the people that I would class as my friends.

"It's funny to watch and see who knows each other but I don't know what they have up their sleeves, I don't know what the producers are going to be producing but as long as people watch it for what it is, which is entertainment and reality TV where people find love in the sun is meant to be an easy watch." But Faye admits there are downsides to appearing on the show.

"It's hard seeing things on the outside that people are saying, especially about people you know," she commented, adding: "I know Toby and I know Kaz, some things I see I'm a bit like 'Hang on, you've got it wrong!' It's difficult, that side of things and now I realise how my friends and family felt when I was inside the villa."

But Faye believes that earlier seasons of the show engaged with viewers as fans didn't have any expectations as the show was "new and exciting". But she believes that when leaving the villa, Islanders are faced with dealing with the different opinions viewers and trolls may have of them.

"You do kind of shrink yourself a little bit," she said. "You kind of think 'Oh I can't do that because of public backlash or scrutiny', people get angry because you're not the same person you were on the show." With reality telly, the star admits she would like to see more of the individual on the show, admitting that reality stars should be more open and "themselves".

Faye will be putting through a petition on the Licensing of Dogs to Protect Animal Welfare which will see the clamp down on backstreet breeding and selling and see dogs being bred through authorised and checked markets. She says that should she ever sit down with Sunk or Tory MPs, she would explain that the UK is "lagging support" for breeding regulations.

"It seems that the whole breed is getting generalised," Faye added before saying: "When actually we need to look at the people that are weaponising these dogs, back street breeders. People are being judged for the type of dog they own. There are issues of in the UK that need seeing too and I just want to be a part of that movement. I want to find out as much as I possibly can from the amazing charities that are really struggling at the moment with the amount of dogs that are abandoned from the amount of dogs that are puppy farmed and from the amount of dogs that are abused."

Having spoken about disagreeing with the general ban of XL Bullies, Faye revealed that she had lost work. She revealed: "There was a comment that was made that was you know, if somebody else does die at the hands of an XL Bully, you will be blamed for sticking up for these dogs. The public are likely to turn against you. I understand, that nobody in the UK deserves to die innocently, if that's at the hands of a dog, or the hands of a weapon, which some of these dogs are being turned into. My problem was the fact that it was going to be the dogs that would suffer."
