A close friend of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has spoken out after the news was confirmed that King Charles III has been diagnosed with cancer.

The Monarch is believed to have had cancer discovered whilst he underwent a recent hospital procedure for his prostate, although the diagnosis has been confirmed as not being prostate cancer. British journalist and royal writer Omid Scobie, who has previously written about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and their strained relationship with the Royal Family, has now spoken out since the news was revealed.

Writing on Twitter, Omid shared the official statement from Buckingham Palace detailing the Monarch's health. As he shared it, he added his own words: "Sources clarify that while further details won’t be shared at this stage, it is not prostate cancer. King Charles returned to London from Sandringham today to commence treatment as an out-patient."

Omid Scobie has previously commented on life at Buckingham palace and within the Royal Family, also known as 'The Firm' and his explosive book Endgame reignited the bitter row between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry and their royal relatives. In his book he has previously spoken about the alleged racism that Meghan was faced with during her time as a working royal, including comments about the colour skin her son Archie would have before he was born.

"His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties. Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual. The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.

"His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer."

Charles is expected to take a prolonged period away from royal duties with no confirmation of when he would return. Charles, who acceded to the throne just 17 months ago, was last seen on Sunday when he attended church in Sandringham. The 75-year-old was discharged from the London Clinic just a week ago after undergoing treatment on an enlarged prostate.
