Britain's unluckiest game show contestant has appeared on more than 50 TV shows but never won a penny.

Edward Oldfield said: "I don't know why I've never won - I think it's just bad luck. There's been times where I've been so close and I've been able to smell the money, but never won it. I've been doing this for ten years, sometimes I wonder if I should give up but then I think it might be just around the corner.”

As well as game shows he has also appeared on news, entertainment, lifestyle and reality TV programmes. But the only ‘prizes’ he has ever taken home include an elephant costume after appearing on Ninja Warrior UK and a mug from Steph's Packed Lunch.

His TV career started in 2001 when he went on The Weakest Link and later appeared on Come Dine with Me. He was then asked to go on Tipping Point and has since been on over 50 shows, broadcast to millions of viewers.

Cafe worker Edward, 45, from Blackpool, Lancs, said: "I got an email asking if I was interested in going on Tipping Point and I thought why not because you can win money on it and meet a few new people.

"I don't know what happened next, every time the phone rang it was another programme or I was getting an email from people. I've done 50 television shows, which is just incredible.”

Edward, who has been married to wife Emma for 14 years, performed as a stand-up comedian on Britain's Got Talent in 2016 and 2017 and has met many stars. I find that the more famous someone is, the more lovely they are” he said.

Now the father of two’s ambition is to appear on the BBC show Bargain Hunt. Edward said: "I think Bargain Hunt would be great fun - it would be such a laugh. I'm not really good at winning money but Bargain Hunt is all about losing money. I don't think anyone ever makes any money, it's about who has lost the least money. I think this is the sort of show that I should be going on.”

Ten shows Edward has appeared on most often

  1. The Weakest Link
  2. Tipping Point
  3. Decimate
  4. Two Tribes
  5. Guess This House
  6. Freeze Out
  7. The Almost Impossible Gameshow
  8. Pick Me
  9. 1000 Heartbeats
  10. For What It's Worth
