Grammy Awards viewers floored as Lizzo presents after sexual harassment claims
Grammy Award show viewers were shocked as Lizzo took the stage to present the Best R&B Song to SZA after facing sexual harassment accusations last year.
Viewers of the 66th annual award show were floored as Lizzo made her first major appearance since she seemingly disappeared from the spotlight following claims - which she vehemently denies - last year. A number of backup dancers filed a lawsuit against her accusing her of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment.
The star said at the time: “These sensationalized stories are coming from former employees who have already publicly admitted that they were told their behavior on tour was inappropriate and unprofessional. As an artist, I have always been very passionate about what I do. I take my music and my performances seriously because, at the end of the day, I only want to put out the best art that represents me and my fans.”

One wrote: "Has Lizzo been seen or heard from since the sexual assault allegations?! Or is this the first time?"

During her unexpected appearance, Lizzo warmly welcomed her close friend SZA as she took the stage accepting a Grammy for her chart-topping song Snooze on her hit album SOS. When SZA took the stage she embraced Lizzo and lovingly thanked her for being by her side throughout her entire musical journey. She said: "Lizzo and I have been friends since 2013 when were on tour together...to be on the stage with her is so amazing. I'm so grateful."
This year SZA was the most-nominated solo artist at the awards for an astounding nine categories. The famous R&B singer received a nod for album of the year for SOS, Song and Record of the Year for Kill Bill, Best Progressive R&B Album, Best Traditional R&B Performance, Best R&B Song, Best R&B Performance, Best Melodic Rap Performance for “Low” and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for Ghost in the Machine.
Yesterday, a judge in the case denied Lizzo's request to have the case thrown out - indicating it will proceed. They did however throw out some claims including allegations she fat-shamed a dancer and required others to pose nude for a photoshoot for her show 'Watch Out for the Big Grrrls'.
Stefan Friedman, a spokesperson for Lizzo, said: "Lizzo is grateful to the judge for seeing through much of the noise and recognizing who she is — a strong woman who exists to lift others up and spread positivity.
"We plan to appeal all elements that the judge chose to keep in the lawsuit and are confident we will prevail."
This year marks the 66th annual year of the Grammy Awards created to recognize the amazing work of artists who have made a monumental impact over the past year. The coveted awards were held live from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles Sunday, February 4, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on the CBS Television Network and will be available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+.
