Death In Paradise fans complained moments into the show's 100th episode after spotting a huge change.

DI Neville Parker - played by Ralf Little - is back for a new series, leading the team to solve all the murders in Saint Marie. However, this first case, which also marks the 100th ever episode of the BBC detective drama, takes a very personal turn when Commissioner Selwyn Patterson is assassinated by a mysterious assailant - but will Selwyn survive?

However, fans have taken to social media to fume just moments in after they noticed a huge change. Whilst the show usually airs on a weekday evening, it has now been moved to a Sunday evening, leaving fans puzzled.

One wrote: "@deathinparadise Not happy this will be on a Sunday . I loved it on a Friday with a glass of wine or two . I will have to watch on catch up #DeathInParadise," whilst a second added: "Sunday? Sunday? Death In Paradise is a Friday show!!"

However, other fans are just thrilled to have the show back. One shared: "I can't wait! Seeing the sunshine on yet another cloudy and wet day here!" whilst another added: "Can't wait, it's my favourite programme on TV."

Ahead of the latest episode, Shantol Jackson - who plays DS Naomi Thomas - has opened up about the devastating scenes with the Commissioner in this new episode. She shared: "It was devastating. The Commissioner is a beloved character and has been with Death in Paradise since day one - it's kind of a thing where you never know when someone might go. I think the audience’s first reaction will be, 'Oh my gosh, is Don leaving the show?' and 'Is the Commissioner actually going to die?'"

Asked how Marlon copes with the Commissioner's shooting, Tahj Miles - who plays Officer Pryce - added: "It hits him very hard, he’s in shock and disbelief. But looking around the team, you think it's hitting him the least because at the end of the day, Marlon is used to seeing this kind of stuff around him, because of where he came from. He's used to hearing about the shootings of friends and colleagues. But he didn't ever think that that kind of thing would happen to people that are close to him in the police station, especially the Commissioner, who's the most respected person on the island, bar Catherine."
