Ricky Norwood breaks his silence after claim he 'threatened to quit' DOI
Ricky Norwood shared a message with fans ahead of the latest episode of Dancing on Ice following reports that he had "threatened to quit" the show earlier this week.
The actor, 40 - who's known for having been a cast member on BBC soap EastEnders - is among the contestants on the ITV show's latest series. Ricky is partnered with professional figure skater Annette Dytrt, also 40, in the competition.
He took to Instagram on Sunday afternoon to express his gratitude for the support he has received from fans ahead of the next live show. It comes following speculation that he had "threatened" to quit after alleged tension in rehearsals.
Ricky posted a video of himself backstage at Dancing on Ice earlier, which showed him inside the hair and makeup room at the studio where the ITV series is filmed. He shared the footage just hours ahead of Sunday evening's live show. He said: "Hello you beautiful, beautiful people. It is show day and I am in the hair and makeup office right now. We're just about to go on and do a dress rehearsal. It's looking good so far. It's feeling good. Everybody is ... the whole room is really busy. Everybody's really, really busy. It's all go right now."
The actor continued by expressing gratitude. He told his followers in the video uploaded this weekend: "Just wanted to thank you for all your love and support as per usual and thank you for your votes. Thank you for just everything that you guys do. You're amazing. I hope you enjoy the show tonight. I'm sending you guys so much, so much love."
Corrie's Sue Cleaver says I'm A Celebrity stint helped her to push boundariesIt comes following reports on Saturday evening that Ricky had "threatened to quit" Dancing on Ice after a "huge bust-up" with his skating partner Annette during a training session. According to the Sun, he "stormed off" the ice rink after less than 20 minutes of practice on Thursday.
A source claimed recently: "Ricky was trying to work on his posture but Annette was getting frustrated that he was not grasping it. He felt that Annette was treating him like a kid and was clearly frustrated at her lack of patience." They added: "Ricky stormed off the ice and threw his skates off in a rage while shouting 'I'm done' and 'f*** this'." The source claimed that Annette is a "perfectionist" and "wants to shine," noting that it's her first time on the ITV show.
Annette was unveiled as Ricky's partner for the show earlier this year. Last month, he wrote in a post ahead of their debut: "It's getting really real now. This journey is fantastic and I could not of shared it with a better partner. Annette has been so good with me. Just want to go out there and give it everything now. It's all about that good energy."
Dancing on Ice continues tonight on ITV and ITVX from 6.20pm. You can catch up on previous episodes of the latest series through the streaming platform now ahead of the upcoming episode this evening.
