Trump set for Madison Square Garden rally amid 'big plans' to flip New York
Donald Trump says he will do a rally in South Bronx and Madison Square Garden as he fights to be elected for a second term.
He vowed to give New York a 'heavy shot' in his campaigning after saying people are "very unhappy" in the city and wants to also flip traditional Democratic strongholds New Jersey and Minnesota in the general election. He says he has "heavy plans" and says Americans have now "had enough".
He told Fox News' Maria Bartiromo of his plan with President Joe Biden said to be worried about some "embarrassing details" in a report about how he handled classified documents which could be damaging to his administration. “There’s a rumour you’re going to do a rally in the South Bronx” she asked him on he told Fox News' Sunday Morning Futures. “I think I will do that, I think I’ll do one maybe at Madison Square Garden too."

He spoke to Fox News anchor Maria Bartiromo earlier today (FOX NEWS)He continued: "New York has changed a lot. We have migrants all over the streets. Nobody can believe what has happened there is these past two years. There people of New York are angry. People who would have never voted for me, I think this time they will vote for me. We're going to give New York a heavy shot."

He went on to say he feels strangleholds can be broken in the months ahead. Trump said: "They are very unhappy in New York. Look at the crime. It is at record levels. I also think New Jersey and Virginia can be flipped as well. I also think New Mexico and Minnesota can be flipped as well."
While Trump is originally from New York City, he has faced large protests and criminal cases there in the years. He last month vowed to win doubters around. “I’m going to do rallies, I’m going to do speeches, I’m going to work them,” Trump promised. “That doesn’t mean I’m going to work them as hard as I work Pennsylvania, where I’m doing very well.”
The US president's team is reportedly concerned that an investigation by special counsel Robert Hur could bring to light some details, including photos, on how Biden stored documents which could hurt his re-election campaign. The probe was launched after documents from the time Barack Obama was president were discovered in Biden's garage at his home in Delaware and in a private office he used.
Aides fear that Trump, who is also running for a second term, will try to use the report to harm Biden's campaign. While Biden is not expected to face criminal charges in the case, it is feared the report will be politically damaging. The president previously defended storing documents from his vice presidency in his garage, saying: "By the way, my Corvette is in a locked garage, so it's not like they're sitting out on the street."
He added: "People know I take classified documents and classified materials seriously. I also said we’re cooperating, fully cooperated with the Justice Department’s review." Attorney General Merrick Garland named Hur in January 2023 to handle the politically sensitive investigation in an attempt to avoid conflicts of interest. The investigation is separate from special counsel Jack Smith’s probe into the handling of classified documents by former President Donald Trump after he left the White House.
