Davina McCall embarrassed after friend fools her on Masked Singer

Masked Singer host Davina McCall was stunned when Dippy Egg was revealed as none other than her Long Lost Family co-star Nicky Campbell.

Judge Davina rushed on to the stage of the hit ITV1 show and gave him a huge hug. She told the Mirror: “I was in total shock. I cannot believe I didn’t recognise his voice, the way he moves or any of the clues. Not in a million years would I have guessed it. It’s embarrassing.”

“I’ve known Nicky for many years and was completely stunned to see him on the show. I was so emotional, something just came over me.

"Halfway to the stage I did think, “I’m not sure if I’m allowed to do this!” But I just had to do it. He totally fooled me and I should have got it.”

Radio and TV presenter Nicky, 62, has presented ITVX series Long Lost Family, which reunites relatives, with 56-year-old Davina since 2011. As he performed Moon River again, Nicky got choked up as Davina watched tearfully.

He had wanted to take part in the show as he loves it, saying: “I can kind of sing so when the opportunity came up, I thought, “Yeah”.

Former Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton was also unmasked as the character Maypole after landing in the bottom three.
