Love Island star Ekin-Su Culculoglu goes back to school – to teach kids about the horrors of last year’s Turkey-Syria earthquake.

The reality TV winner, who has relatives in Turkey, told pupils about how her Red Cross visit affected her.

More than 50,000 people were killed when a 7.8 magnitude quake struck the two countries in the early hours of February 6, 2023.

Ekin-Su, 29, said: “My family in Turkey live in fear. Every day I think about my grandma, I think about my cousins, my aunties, my uncles and my cousin’s kids. People want to try and stay safe, but they try and live life as it comes and try not to manifest the worst. They are grieving for the lost ones.”

Nurhan Kabakci, deputy head at East London’s Ataturk School, added: “We want our kids to know what is happening in Turkey and to understand the feeling.”

Ekin-Su now wants to revisit the areas worst hit by the earthquake and catch up with survivors she met during her trip last April.

She made the school visit just hours after announcing her break-up with fellow 2022 Love island winner Davide Sanclimenti.

While admitting the split was “still really fresh”, she said her classroom trip ahead of the first anniversary of the earthquake had helped her forget about her heartbreak.
