With its blend of 11 herbs and spices, the uniquely delicious recipe for Kentucky Fried Chicken is one of the most famous trade secrets in the catering industry.

A copy of the recipe, signed by Colonel Sanders himself, is safely stored in a vault at KFC's Louisville HQ, along with 11 separate vials each containing one of the ingredients. The colonel used to teasingly say each one was 'standing on everybody's shelf', causing many to guess what they could be.

Perhaps spurred on by this, TikToker Beauty Of The Feast has done his best to imitate the flavourful chicken - and he's done a cracking job! KFC's flagship product, the Original Recipe chicken, is world-reknowned for its flavourful and crispy coating. The secret blend of its herbs and spices, combined with a unique preparation process, gives the takeaway a distinct and savoury taste that you'd recognise anywhere.

And while of course this following recipe isn't identical, it's definitely worth trying out yourself at home - with TikTok users describing the end product as 'epic' and 'elite'.

3 tsp oregano

3 tsp marjoram

3 tsp dried thyme

1 tsp salt

1 tsp pepper oil for frying

Method

1. Pop the drumsticks, salt, pepper, garlic purée, buttermilk and mustard into a bowl and mix well. Then cover and put into the fridge for at least six hours.

2. Heat oil to around 180c in a pan or fryer.

3. In a separate bowl, add in the conflour, flour, herbs and spices and whisk until all mixed together.

4. Next, grab a drumstick one at a time and shake off the excess buttermilk before coating it in the flour spice mix. Then shake off any extra mix and pop on one side. Do this for each drumstick.

5. You now need to add the drumsticks to the oil, but make sure you do it in batches to avoid both overcrowding and bringing the temperature down. It will take around nine minutes to get that perfect golden brown colour. Just make sure you keep an eye on them darkening too quickly as this indicates the oil is too hot.

6. Take the chicken from the pan and leave to drain on paper towels.

7. Eat them up!
