NFL star Mark Andrews saves woman's life on plane after she struggles to breathe
Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews turned into a real-life hero on a flight when he helped a diabetic woman who was struggling to breathe.
On his journey from Phoenix to Baltimore, Andrews, who is also diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, didn't hesitate to help when a woman's pulse wasn't detectable by a doctor or nurse on the plane.
Andrew Springs, a co-passenger who witnessed the event, shared that Andrews offered his personal diabetic testing kit to help. Springs said: "A man in the aisle seat popped up, 'Could it be her blood sugar? I have a diabetic testing kit.' It was Ravens TE Mark Andrews."
He explained further how efficient Andrews was in guiding medical professionals to use his kit, which thankfully resulted in the stabilisation of the woman's heart rate.

When they landed, paramedics were waiting and the woman was responsive. Springs praised Andrews:"Andrew deplaned quietly. No fanfare. As he has done his whole career, he stepped up in a huge moment when people need him the most. Watching complete strangers spring into action to help save someone's life is truly amazing."
The Ravens confirmed an incident involving Andrews, who praised the quick response of medical professionals on board. He said in a statement: "In addition to the fast-acting flight attendants, the real heroes are the nurse and doctor who also happened to be on the plane. Thankfully they were able to provide the woman the quick assistance she needed."

The three-time Pro Bowler uses an insulin pump and a continuous glucose monitor, which shares his blood sugar levels with his family, agent and the Ravens' head trainer.
The Ravens' trainers supply him with separate bottles of Gatorade Zero during games and practices - which has no impact on his blood sugar levels. Andrews has been one of the best tight ends in the NFL along with Travis Kelce throughout the past five years - having six touchdowns in just 10 games this season.
