Tom Brady's dad has reignited the NFL feud with Bill Belichick - claiming the coach runs a 'military system' that is out of touch with the modern NFL.

This comes after Brady's departure from the New England Patriots, a team that reached the Super Bowl nine times and won six championships under the leadership of Brady, Belichick, and owner Rob Kraft.

However, after Brady left for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and won Super Bowl LV before retiring in February 2023, the Patriots struggled. With a record of 29-38 post-Brady and missing the playoffs three out of four years, Belichick stepped down as head coach and de facto general manager in 2023 following a poor season.

Despite this, Brady Sr. still believes Belichick is the best coach in football, but suggests the league has moved beyond the 71-year-old. As of the 2024 NFL season, Belichick will not be a head coach and may not have a coaching role for the first time since 1975.

“Bill is tough,” Brady Sr. told the Boston Globe. “He runs a military system. It’s a different generation. Bill is a great, great, great coach. But his interpersonal skills are horrible. That’s the bottom line.

“How many times has he said - back in ‘15 or ‘16 - that he wanted to win without Tommy? When he went without Tommy, he didn’t know what he was losing. You’re losing more than just a quarterback.

“Ego sometimes gets in the way of things. I think it did with Bill. Now, he’s in a situation where he’s gotten crucified for the last few years by everybody and a lot of luster has come off his rose.”

No NFL coach is as demanding as Belichick, known for his defensive genius and strict approach. He and Brady made the most successful coach-quarterback team ever, but they split up because Belichick worried about Brady's age.

Kraft chose his coach over Brady, but then saw Brady win another Super Bowl with the Bucs. Kraft confessed he was wrong when Brady came back to be celebrated.

“He just said, ‘I made a mistake.’” Brady Sr. added. “He told us that back in September. We don’t all make the right decisions, but he’s made a hell of a lot of good ones over the years. But I know that it galls him that Tommy went elsewhere and won. Not that he won, but that he won after Bill said he was done.”

Tom Brady is famous for winning more than five Super Bowls, being named Super Bowl MVP five times, and retiring with the most passing yards (89,214), touchdown passes (649), and regular season wins (251). At 46, he's seen by many as the best quarterback ever.
