Strictly Come Dancing star 'forced to pull out of tour due to medical issue'
A Strictly Come Dancing star had to miss a stop on the show's live tour due to a "media precaution".
Angela Rippon made history during her time on the BBC show, as she became the oldest contestant to take part. She wowed the judges and viewers with her dance moves as she was partnered with professional dancer Kai Widdrington. The pair were the eighth stars to be voted off the series, having made it to Blackpool week
The legendary broadcaster has since headed out on the Strictly Come Dancing Live tour with her co-stars. She has been touring the UK with her Strictly colleagues including Ellie Leach, Annabel Croft, Angela Scanlon, Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell. However, Angela was forced to pull out of the glitzy show in Leeds on Thursday evening.

She is said to have missed a show for medical reasons (@theangelarippon/instagram)A source told The Sun : "She has been giving the tour her all but needed to take a break from dancing. It's incredible what Angela can do on the dancefloor but her health is always a priority'. 'She was advised to rest and miss a show and then see if she was up to coming back for the final night in Leeds tonight."
Ahead of embarking on the tour, Angela told The Mirror, she was most looking forward to be able to dance again. She said: "When they invited me on tour, I thought, ‘If I can go on dancing for a few more weeks, that’s what I’m going to do’. There’s a stereotype that when you get to my age you just stop... and that couldn’t be further from the truth."

Angela added: “From when they asked me to do [the tour], I mentioned it to Kai and he said, ‘You’ve got to do it’. His description was, ‘You will never hear anything quite like the sound of an arena’." The Strictly star told us she had teamed up with professional dancer Neil Jones to help reduce the risk of injury on tour.
Angela said: “I’ll be keeping up my cryotherapy which I started during the series. Neil and I are very keen cryotherapy advocates. He’s located as many [cryotherapy venues] as he can in the cities we’re going to... That and retail therapy will keep me going. I found during the show that the more cryotherapy I did the less I needed to rely on ibuprofen and Voltarol. It really does keep the aches and pains at bay.”
Angela's dance partner Kai has gushed over his friendship with the broadcaster during their time on the show. Speaking on Lorraine, Kai said of Angela: "We have a 51-year age gap between us but we feel like we've known each other 50 years and we're like mates. She'll ring me now and again, like yesterday, bless her.
"She accidentally FaceTimed me yesterday but she didn't realise! You know when people are ringing you and you go: 'Oh no, I didn't mean to FaceTime you!' It was quite funny!" Angela thanked her pro partner after leaving the show. She said: "I have to tell you that the last nine weeks have probably been the most terrifying, the most fantastic, the most glorious, the most joyful that I have spent for a very long time in my profession.
"I have had the time of my life, people keep making reference to the fact that I presented Come Dancing, but that was forty years ago, that was a different time! He [Kai] wasn’t even born then! But actually being this side of the competition, this side of the programme has been really an eye-opener for me in so many different ways."
