Adele has been forced to add more dates to her surprise gigs in Germany - after demand far outstripped the number of nights on offer.

The 35-year-old Grammy award winning star stunned fans earlier this week when she announced she was planning a number of gigs in Munich. The dates were set for August - and come off the tail of her recent, hugely successful residency in Las Vegas in the USA.

The Chasing Pavements singer initially announced four nights of live performances - but this has now been doubled with the number of performances extended to eight. She will take to the stage of in a specially built, custom made, open air stadium created just for the event.

Fans will need to register their interest to attend one of the concerts by signing up via Adele’s official website, a link for tickets will then be sent to those who registered on Tuesday 6 February, and available to buy the next day at 10am Central European Time. General sale tickets will then be available from Friday 9 February at 10am CET.

An official statement from Live Nation, who are organising the concerts, declares: “To satisfy the phenomenal demand, four additional Adele in Munich shows have been added to the previously announced summer run at Munich Messe… Earlier this week, fans were delighted when the global superstar announced the initial Adele in Munich dates, her first mainland Europe shows since 2016.

“As previously reported, a bespoke open-air arena will be created especially for this residency with capacity for 80,000 people per night.” The dates of the concerts are August 2, 3, 8, 10, 14, 16, 23 and 24.

Adele announced her concerts via social media on Wednesday. She wrote: “So a few months ago I got a call about a summer run of shows. I’ve been content as anything with my shows in London’s Hyde Park and my residency in Vegas, so I hadn’t had any other plans.

“However, I was too curious to not follow up and indulge in this idea - a one off, bespoke pop-up stadium designed around whatever show I want to put on? Ohh!? Pretty much slap bang in the middle of Europe? In Munich? That’s a bit random, but still fabulous! Right after the Euros? Come on England! With the Olympics next door? Go on Simone! And some of my favourite artists playing shows too? Why…YES!!

“I haven’t played in Europe since 2016! I couldn’t think of a more wonderful way to spend my summer and end this beautiful phase of my life and career with shows closer to home during such an exciting summer.” She added: “Guten Tag babes.”

Fans have been thrilled by the announcements - and think Adele would be wise to add even more nights. One fan, reacting to her post on Instagram, wrote in reply: “You could add 50 shows, and they'd be sold out too.” And another begged: “We need a WORLDTOUR please.”
