Ant and Dec caught filming Saturday Night Takeaway stunt with huge guests

Ant and Dec have been pictured back filming for Saturday Night Takeaway's 20th series.

ITV confirmed recently that the TV presenters would be taking a break after the 2024 series. The duo said reaching the “milestone” of 20 series seemed like the “perfect time to pause for a little while and catch our breath”.

Declan Donnelly was joined by Amanda Holden, Simon Cowell and Craig David for filming as they pranked members of the public that came in for an interview. Fans of Saturday Night Takeaway will know that one of the show's most popular segments involves Ant and Dec pranking unsuspecting celebrities.

However, it seems roles have been reversed for the huge 20th series as it appeared that Dec was being told by Britain's Got Talent judges Simon and Amanda what to do and say to a woman they were interviewing. Dec appeared to have a party bag and whacked on a fake moustache while pretending to choke on a banana before popping a confetti canon and running around the room in hilarious scenes.

Halfway through the filming Simon's assistant could be seen bringing him some refreshments in the form of a pack of beers. Saturday Night Takeaway will return later this year, but an exact date has yet to be confirmed.

The series has featured plenty of famous stars over the years including Victoria Beckham, Kevin Costner, Daniel Radcliffe, Robbie Williams and Michael Bublé. It previously took a break in 2009 before returning four years later in 2013.

Last year, the Geordie duo announced their plans to "rest" the Bafta-winning show and work on new TV formats. Taking to Instagram, the smartly-dress paired announced they would be taking a break from the beloved TV show.

Ant revealed: "We've got some news for you. Next year, in 2024, it will be our 20th series of Saturday Night Takeaway. And we've got some very special look-backs planned as well as some very exciting new items."

Dec continued: "And we've also decided that our 20th series will be our last one for a little while. The show takes up so much of a year we just feel like we need a little bit of a breather and the show is going to take a little bit of a rest."

"But before that we've got the 20th series to plan," Ant remarked as Dec interjected: "And we're looking forward to it."
