Rob Kardashian's scary health diagnosis which led to him stepping away from fame
The Kardashians are one of the most famous families in the world, but very little is known about Rob Kardashian.
The 36-year-old is the younger brother of Kourtney, Kim and Khloe Kardashian, but he chose a different path to his sisters and decided to start turning his back on fame in 2012. Rob last appeared on their family reality show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, in season seven.
However, he didn't fully step away from the limelight then. In 2016, he had his own reality show with his then-girlfriend Blac Chyna and was growing a successful sock business. Sadly, things became difficult for Rob following the breakdown of his relationship and a worrying health scare. Here, we've taken a look at why he turned his back on fame and what he's been up to since.

In 2015, Rob was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes after struggling for years with his weight. The condition causes the level of sugar in the blood to become too high.
Kim Kardashian weighs in on sister feud after Kourtney's sad 'outsider' claimsIt can cause symptoms like excessive thirst, needing to pee a lot and tiredness. Type 2 diabetes also increases a person's risk of getting serious problems with their eyes, heart and nerves.
Rob found it difficult to open up about his condition on his family's reality show. This led to him stepping back from the Kardashian lifestyle.
Relationship breakdown
Rob started dating Blac Chyna in 2016 and she gave birth to their daughter Dream in November of that year. The former couple aired their personal life on their reality series Rob & Chyna.
With the high-profile nature of their relationship, the fallout from their split was even more dramatic. They first separated in December 2016, before reconciling a few days later.
However, they split again in February 2017. In July 2017, Rob posted sexually explicit photos of Chyna on social media, leading to his ex-girlfriend obtaining a temporary restraining order against him.
In October 2017, Chyna filed a more than $100million (£78million) lawsuit against the Kardashian family, accusing them of defamation. In May 2022, a jury voted in favour of the Kardashians and no damages were awarded to Chyna.
Will Rob return?
While fans might be thinking they've seen the last of Rob, his sister Khloe believes otherwise. Speaking in an episode of The Kardashians, she said he's doing great and could return to reality TV.
"I do think Rob will come back to the show. He talks about it a lot. He does," she said in a confessional. "But I do know Rob has been through a lot personally, but he's literally the best dad that I know, and I'm so proud of him for that. He's just feeling really good about himself. So I have faith that soon he'll be back on the show."
