Ghost of infamous 'black-eyed girl' 'captured' by drone near UK forest

Recently captured footage from a drone flying near a UK forest has shown a potential sighting of a "black-eyed" ghost girl who haunts hikers.

The unusual phenomenon unfurling in Cannock Chase, Staffordshire, has seen hikers stalked by the alleged apparition. People have claimed to see the spectre for decades, and now a crack team of ghost hunters are on the case, with Robert Plume claiming the area is a certified haunt. Footage of the area has circulated for years, with return trips to the area proving increasingly eerie.

The "terrifying" area has since been discussed by Mr Plume, who believes reports of the black-eyed girl are rightly feared by members of the public heading off for traipses through the forest.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Robert said: "Cannock Chase is considered one of the most haunted places in Britain, so it is no surprise the area draws in lots of rumours about beasts and ghouls. We have had lots of reports of a ‘black-eyed girl’ seen walking around. At first she appears like a normal girl and walkers are worried a little girl is lost in the woods. Then they see her eyes and she just disappears. It is terrifying."

The spirit is believed to have been kicking around the location since the 1800s as a diptheria outbreak claimed the lives of local children. One such victim is now believed to be haunting the area. Other horrid actions were noted in the area, with Raymond Morris killing three youngsters in the area. Some believe it is their ghosts which haunt the woods, not the spirit of a diptheria victim.

A pair of teenagers tried their luck and camped in the woods back in 2021, and were left "absolutely terrified" after they claimed they heard children giggling off in the distance before noticing a shadowy figure looming in the area. One of the teenagers said: “I was absolutely terrified. I’d read the stories in the news about the black-eyed child but it wasn’t until the thing stood right in front of me that I could quite believe them.

"I knew instantly that we were dealing with the real thing because it moved in ways humans simply can’t move. It was like it could teleport from one place to another when it was moving around and hiding behind the trees. "
