Bianca Gascoigne has candidly opened up about her battle against antenatal depression surrounding the birth of the daughter she shares with fiancé Arron Wright.

The 37-year-old reality star has been in a relationship with precious metals broker Aaron since 2021 - becoming engaged in December last year. The couple welcomed their daughter, Blake Sunshine, in February last year and frequently share photos of her online via social media.

Now Bianca has opened up about the fact she endured bouts of low emotions during her pregnancy - and feared she wouldn’t bond with her newborn as she decided to undergo a caesarean section. Fortunately, her mood lifted following the arrival of her baby - but she is keen to highlight to other expectant mothers that sometimes everything isn’t all happy and rosy.

The former Celebrity Big Brother contestant joined former Geordie Shore star Sophie Kasaei on her Unmasked podcast where she opened up about her experiences. During their chat, Bianca explained how she battled depression while expecting her baby girl.

She told Sophie: “We weren't trying, it just happened straight away quickly before I even knew. But I had a horrific pregnancy. I was depressed. Antenatal depression, I didn't want to be pregnant.

"I just wanted to be in a corner I just wasn't me at all. You're supposed to be so happy and like, 'this is the best time of my life' and that makes everything worse. I was just thinking 'no this is awful I hate it,' throughout the whole time. I was having a c-section and I said to my mum, 'I don't know about this, I don't know if I'm going to have a connection.'

"But then I came back around and when I looked at my baby I thought, 'she's amazing' and I felt this protectiveness. It was just the weirdest thing and the depression went like that. I know it's not like that for everyone, but for me it was such a difference because I was in such a bad place and then like I was like 'I want another one'."

Despite feeling better Bianca added: "I'm still suffering from my hormones now. I get quite aggravated very easily." In a recent Instagram post, Bianca explained that her almost one-year-old child is lighting up her life.

Hosting a Q&A with fans, Bianca responded when a follower asked about baby Blake “Is Sunshine her first name? I thought it was Blake?” The reality star replied: “On paper yes. But Sunshine (her second name) has fully taken over.”

She continued: “Originally I would have love to have been Big B & her Little B. But we call her and introduce her as Sunshine the reaction is so cute and people say yes it suits her so much! I love it. Maybe when she is older and goes to school or gets a serious job etc she can use Black but to me that name is quite alien now.”

Another fan asked if Bianca planned to throw a party for Sunshine’s first birthday. She replied: “Yes we are! A very special one” - and revealing the bash will be held on Saturday 17 February.
