Say goodbye to soggy chips - a game-changing hack means you'll always have crispy leftovers.

If you've ever ordered chips with your takeaway and not been able to finish them all, then you probably know how miserable it can be to eat them when they've gone cold. Chips also don't take well to being microwaved as they end up in a soggy mess that doesn't hold any of the crisp and crunch they had when they were fresh.

But according to one food expert, there's another appliance you can use to guarantee crispy leftovers every time, and it's something you probably already own after their recent boom in popularity.

Experts at PureWow have said all you need to do to ensure crispy leftovers in as little as five minutes is to stick your chips in an air fryer, which should be able to do the job perfectly. Around four minutes at 190C should be enough to reheat your chips in an air fryer and should restore them to their crispy glory without an ounce of sogginess in sight.

If you don't have an air fryer, don't despair! You can use a regular oven to reheat your chips. Preheat the appliance to 220C and line a baking tray with parchment paper or foil. Then, place your chips onto the tray in one even layer and cook them for between 5 and 10 minutes, or until warm through and crisp.

Meanwhile, another food expert previously shared some other tips you can try to make sure your chips don't go soggy. Chip connoisseur Magda Ganae, from The Real Food Cafe in Stirlingshire, was awarded second place at the National Fish and Chip Awards 2018, and knows a few things about the perfect chip.

She recommended cooling leftover chips as soon as possible and putting them in the fridge with a "loose cover", as sealing them completely can cause bacteria growth. Then, when it's time to reheat, make sure you pat your chips dry with a kitchen towel or use salt to draw out any excess moisture - as it's vital that your chips are dry before the reheating begins.

Magda said: "Reheat in such a way that the water can escape. The perfect way to reheat chips is to deep fry them, but frying them in a skillet can work just as well, use a very hot pan with a little oil. Alternatively, you can grill them on a high heat, but move the chips regularly so as not to burn them."
